Gilbert Anchondo and his wife, Brenda, suffered the loss of their son and daughter-in-law in the August 3, 2019 Walmart mass shooting. Gilbert Anchondo suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 60 and was laid to rest today with Bishop Mark presiding at his funeral Mass. .

The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso launched the 2021 Progress Catholic Ministry Appeal last month with the goal of raising $1.9 million by the end of the calendar year.
