As a separate legal entity from the Diocese of El Paso, the Catholic Foundation is not affected by the recent reorganization of the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso. We remain committed to our core purpose of raising funds necessary to sustain the parishes, schools, ministries, and charities that continue the teachings of Jesus Christ in our Diocese. All monies raised through the Catholic Foundation are only used for the parishes, programs, services, and ministries for which they are designated. No gifts are used to satisfy legal fees or settlement costs associated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso’s reorganization.

Now more than ever, we are counting on the community to help us fulfill that mission. Our hearts and prayers remain with the victims and their families.

Prayers and Support for Our Newest Diocese of El Paso Priest
Prayers and Support for Our Newest Diocese of El Paso Priest

The Catholic Foundation is thrilled to share that Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30 PM, Deacon Alexander “Askee” Gutierrez will be ordained at St. Patrick Cathedral. At the Catholic Foundation, we are so excited and blessed to celebrate his transition into the priesthood – such a significant moment in a life marked by joy, love, and service!

Join us in praying for Deacon Askee as he receives the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Let us also keep him in our prayers during the coming weeks and years as he takes the first steps into his life as a priest, along with prayers for the many other faithful priests who have given their lives to serve as shepherds for their El Paso flock. As they tirelessly serve our community, let us reciprocate with our support and prayers. Our support for priests must continue after their ordination, as their vocation is not defined by a single moment or day, but a whole lifetime of dedication.

One tangible way to support priests in their journey of service is through the Ongoing Priestly Formation Fund. This fund provides support to the Diocese of El Paso for our clergy’s continuing spiritual, leadership, and academic formation once ordained. We are so grateful to each and every priest who has answered the call to their vocation in our Diocese, and this is just one way that we can give back to them to support their growth and formation beyond their seminary years.
