As a separate legal entity from the Diocese of El Paso, the Catholic Foundation is not affected by the recent reorganization of the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso. We remain committed to our core purpose of raising funds necessary to sustain the parishes, schools, ministries, and charities that continue the teachings of Jesus Christ in our Diocese. All monies raised through the Catholic Foundation are only used for the parishes, programs, services, and ministries for which they are designated. No gifts are used to satisfy legal fees or settlement costs associated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso’s reorganization.

Now more than ever, we are counting on the community to help us fulfill that mission. Our hearts and prayers remain with the victims and their families.

2022 Ordinations to the Priesthood

The Diocese of El Paso rejoices in the ordination of five new priests and gives thanks for the blessing of their vocations.

Most Rev. Mark J. Seitz, D.D. will ordain Astry Déraly, César García-Ortega, Edroud Jean, José William Arévelo Narváez, and Sergio Legarreta Carrasco to the priesthood on Friday, May 27 at 6:30pm at St. Stephen Parish.

Our newest priest, Alfonso Coronado, was ordained at St. Patrick Cathedral in January of this year and serves in West Texas. All six men will serve in the Diocese of El Paso.

The Rite of Ordination and the Ordination Mass comprise one of the most beautiful, solemn, and joyful liturgies celebrated in the Catholic Church. Please join us for the celebration.

We ask for continued prayers for Astry, César, Edroud, José William, and Sergio and for our men in formation. Congratulations to the newest priests and their families!
